FISHING SEASON START CEREMONY AND RELEASE OF FINGERLINGS TO RESTOCK THE AQUATIC RESOURCES

In the series of activities for the 59th Traditional Day of Fisheries (1/4) and 59th year since Uncle Ho's visit to Cat Ba fishing village (31/3/1959 - 31/3/2018), On March 31, 2018, the Hai Phong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in coordination with the General Department of Fisheries, the Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam, and Cat Hai district People's Committee organized the Fishing Season Start Ceremony and the release of fingerlings to restock the aquatic resources.

The ceremony was held in Cat Ba town, Hai Phong, with the participation of Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung - Deputy General Director, General Department of Fisheries; Thich Thanh Huan, secretary of the Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam, representatives of Vietnam Fisheries Resources Surveillance, Vietnam Fisheries Society, Department of Aquatic Resource Conservation and Development, representatives from central ministries and departments and divisions of Hai Phong city and a large number of fishermen in the province and Buddhist monks and hermits from the North.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung - Deputy Director General of the General Department of Fisheries affirms that Cat Ba is one of the five main fishing grounds in the whole country, emphasizing the local fishery development in particular. At the same time, the entire people should be mobilized to join the efforts in the restock and reproduction of fishery resources and combat illegal fishing. More than 10,000 fingerlings of indigenous species with high economic value have been released to Cat Ba Bay, just like the life release (Tsethar), to replenish the aquaculture resources.

Mr. Bui Duc Dong, Seafood Entrepreneur, a participant in the ceremony said: "This is the first time that Hong Ha Nutrition Joint Stock Company has come together with other agencies and sectors to participate in the Ceremony of restocking the aquatic resources, playing the role of sponsor. We wish our small efforts would bring more value to the society. Through this humanitarian activity, I hope that the ranchers and the fishermen in particular and farmers in general will have a good harvest."

Previously, the Buddhist Sangha of Hai Phong and delegates had attended the Praying Ceremony for Abundant Fishing in Cat Ba town. This is a spiritual activity, embedded with the beauty of the traditional culture of the people of the marine island and it expresses the good meaning of humanity as well as the important role in the spiritual life of fishermen. The activity also represents the significance of ecosystem protection, environmental protection as well as island sovereignty of the Fatherland.
